Tomorrow we head for France and Regent's Summer Program in International Human Rights. Thirty-five students will be joining us this year from Regent, other American law schools, and Handong International Law School (our sister school in Korea). Former Attorney General Ashcroft, Professor Tom Folsom, Professor David Velloney, and I make up the faculty.
Getting ready to go is kind of crazy. I was hoping to have everything caught up and all projects done. Not going to happen! As always, last minute things demand attention.
I am looking forward, though, to getting on the plane and heading to the program. Our time in Strasbourg, the program home, is always enjoyable and meaningful. Strasbourg is a beautiful place filled with history and a rich culture. My favorite part of the trip, though, is being able to spend a lot of time with the students, both in and out of class. We study together, meet prominent human rights lawyers and judges together, and visit sites together around France's Alsace region.
I will send updates from France as the summer progresses. Please pray for safety for students, faculty, and families. Pray also that the program will play a meaningful role in students' lives. And pray that we will be great ambassadors for Christ as we interact with people throughout Europe. Thanks!

Students Serving the Oppressed Around the Globe
I am very encouraged by the law school’s progress in reaching globally to serve the poor and oppressed. This summer, four of our students are serving in funded (thanks to generous donors) international internships and working on critical human rights issues. They are:
- Joanna Cannone – working in Cambodia with Transitions Global, an organization working with victims of human trafficking
- Kara Cooper – working in India with the Freedom Firm and law alum Evan Henck ‘08, an organization combating human trafficking
- Ernie Walton – working on religious freedom issues in France with the European Centre for Law and Justice
- Ashleigh Chapman – working in DC on international adoption issues with the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute
You can also follow Joanna and Kara through their blogs this summer.
